This past May 16, the whole school celebrated Lag BaOmer. Lag BaOmer is a minor Jewish holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Omer, which is the counting period between Passover and Shavuot. It commemorates the end of a plague among Rabbi Akiva’s students and the life of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. It's traditional to celebrate like Bamer with bonfires, children's games like playing with a bow and arrow, and no weddings or haircuts.
The Seniors (12th grade) were in charge of leading the activities for Lag Baomer. These activities stayed true to the theme of traditional Lag BaOmer celebrations, including classic games such as tug of war and bow-and-arrow target practice, among others. As part of the celebrations, we also had our traditional marshmallow bonfire,, where students and staff enjoyed cozy and chewy marshmallows.
