On the 29th of May, we had the pleasure of our rabbi, Gustavo Kraselnik, listening to us talk about the upcoming holiday: Shavuot.

Shavuot is a major Jewish holiday that occurs 50 days after Passover, marking the end of the Counting of the Omer. It has both historical and agricultural significance. Religiously, it commemorates the giving of the Torah to Moshe and the Jewish people at Mount Sinai. Agriculturally, it is known as the Festival of the First Fruits (Jag HaBikkurim), when ancient Israelites would bring offerings from their first harvest to the Temple in Jerusalem. Shavuot is one of the three major pilgrimage festivals, alongside Passover and Sukkot.

As part of the celebrations the primary kids are participating in a basket making competition, where all the kids take fruits and vegetables they put in the baskets according to their grade, these are later going to be a part of a larger donation that's being done to “Hogar divino niño” as tzedaka (charity).
